Furniture that fits the room
Most steel furniture is bought in a size that nearly works. The alcove is 1,340mm wide and the shelving comes in 1,200mm or 1,500mm. The dining space takes a 2.2 metre table and everything available is 1.8 or 2.4.
Fabricating a piece to order removes that problem entirely. You tell us the dimensions the space actually needs and we build to them, which is usually the whole reason people come to us for furniture rather than buying it.
What we make
Tables are the most common request — dining tables, coffee tables, console tables and desks, either as a complete piece or as a steel base built to carry a top you have already sourced. Reclaimed timber, live-edge slabs, stone and glass all sit happily on a properly made steel frame, and a frame made for the specific slab will always beat a generic one.
Beyond tables: shelving and brackets, industrial storage frames, bed frames, benches, plant stands, fire surrounds, room dividers and garden features. If it can be drawn, it can usually be fabricated.
Working from your idea
You do not need a technical drawing. A photograph of something you liked, a sketch with the key dimensions written on it, or a description of what you are trying to fit into a space is enough to start a conversation.
What we will add is the practical side — how thick the section needs to be so a long table does not flex in the middle, where to put a stretcher so it does not sit exactly where your knees want to be, how to level a base on an uneven floor, and how heavy the finished piece will be to move.
Finishes
Raw steel left bare and waxed or lacquered keeps the mill scale and the welded look, and is the classic industrial finish. Blackened steel gives a deeper, more even dark surface. Painted finishes let you match anything, and matt black, anthracite and off-white are the perennial favourites.
For anything going outdoors, the finish stops being cosmetic and starts being the thing that decides how long the piece lasts, so we will talk about that separately depending on where it will live.
Steel, stainless or aluminium
Mild steel is strong, economical and takes any finish — the default for most interior furniture. Stainless steel is the choice where moisture is a factor or where you want a bright, contemporary look with no coating to maintain. Aluminium is much lighter, which is worth having on a piece that needs to be moved regularly.
How to start
Send us the dimensions you need, a photograph of the space, and any reference images. We will come back with what we would suggest and a price for the finished piece.
Finished pieces are delivered and installed across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, and we will travel to Birmingham and the West Midlands for commissions.
